What it is
A lower pressure option
Described generally, soft washing is low pressure cleaning that uses a cleaning solution to do the work that force would otherwise do. It sits alongside a standard pressure clean as another way to get a surface clean.
Roof tile maker Monier shows why people ask for it. It strongly advises against pressure washers on roofs because the force of the water can damage tiles.
Growth
Mould, algae, moss and lichen
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Gold Coast Seaway records show an average relative humidity of 64 per cent at 3pm over the year, and higher in the mornings of summer. January averages around 140 mm of rain and March around 167 mm. The Queensland Residential Tenancies Authority says mould grows in damp and poorly ventilated areas, and that tropical areas carry a higher risk.
Monier adds that moss and lichen spores settle on roofing where moisture and dirt build up. If growth is what is bothering you, mention it when you call.

Wash water
Cleaning solutions and the stormwater drain
Gold Coast City Council says detergents, animal droppings and grass clippings raise nutrient levels in waterways and can cause outbreaks of blue-green algae. Its advice is to wash the car on the lawn, not the driveway. The same thinking applies to any cleaning solution used outdoors, so ask any provider what goes on the surface and where the run-off ends up.
