The job
Years of grime, no oil, no mould
The driveway had a car space beside it, set apart from the main slab, and both had years of built-up grime on them. There were no oil stains and no mould.
The owner didn’t want the grass edges cut back, so we left them where they were.
What we found
A straight clean
With no oil or mould on either slab, there was no reason to reach for a chemical, so we planned a straight clean.
You can’t tell how deep grime goes until the first pass is done. Some driveways turn out gritty underneath and need a degreaser or a chlorine wash. This one didn’t.

The grass along the edges was trimmed with a whipper snipper, because the owner wanted the edges kept.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s Gold Coast Seaway records show an average daily maximum of 25.4 degrees and a minimum of 17.3, with rain in every month of the year. Concrete that is outside through all of that collects grime.
Council guidance for anyone cleaning outdoors is that wastewater containing oil or chemicals goes to a regulated waste company, while wastewater with only soil and organic matter can go onto a garden or lawn. It is a fair thing to ask any cleaner about.
